Flanders all set for Anuga 2025

From 4 to 8 October 2025, the global food industry will gather in Cologne. At three joint stands hosted by the Flanders’ Agricultural Marketing Board (VLAM), around 40 Belgian companies will showcase their offerings to international visitors. With an export value exceeding €9.1 billion, Belgian beef, pork, veal, poultry, rabbit, and dairy products are particularly popular among foreign customers.

Meat suppliers offer top quality and flexible service

In 2024, 945,000 tonnes of pork were commercially produced in Belgium, of which 690,000 tonnes were exported. Belgian pork is especially popular in Germany, Poland, and the Netherlands. Top quality, flexible service, and a high slaughter yield are hallmarks of the Flemish pork sector.

The production of beef and veal amounted to 249,000 tonnes, with 155,000 tonnes destined for export. The Netherlands, France, and Germany are among the main buyers. Tailor-made Belgian beef is ideal for a wide range of production processes.

At their regular location in Hall 6, Stand E010, Flemish meat suppliers will welcome visitors together with the team from the Belgian Meat Office. This year, guests will be treated to culinary delights by students from the Ter Duinen hotel school.

More information about the presence of meat suppliers at Anuga 2025 can be found at: http://www.flandersmeat.com/en/event/anuga-2025.

Dairy sector sets a historic record

In 2024, the turnover of the Belgian dairy industry increased by 5% compared to the previous year, reaching over €7.3 billion. Almost 4.4 billion litres of milk were collected in Belgium, and over 5 billion litres were processed. This resulted in a wide range of dairy products, with white drinking milk as the main product, followed by fermented milk, cream, milk powder, and cheese. While the production of white drinking milk is slightly declining, we see rising volumes for mozzarella, other cheeses, and dairy products (cream, desserts, etc.).

The export of Belgian dairy products continues to grow steadily, exceeding 2.7 million tonnes in 2024, with a value of €5.5 billion. The main export markets are neighbouring countries: the Netherlands, France, and Germany.

At the VLAM dairy stand in Hall 10.1, three Flemish companies will be present: Belgian Butter Design (H030a), Inex (H030), and Vonk Culinary Cheese (G031).

Strong demand for poultry from neighbouring countries

According to Belgian poultry statistics, over 310 million animals were slaughtered in 2024. Driven by increasing demand for poultry meat, this marks a significant rise compared to previous years. As a result, the volume of poultry meat produced rose sharply to 538.5 million kg. Chickens, turkeys, and ducks are the most represented species.

In 2024, over 500,000 tonnes were exported abroad, with an export value of €1.2 billion. Alongside France, the Netherlands, Germany, and the United Kingdom are the main export markets for Belgian poultry. However, the reach extends much further, with more than 80 countries importing Belgian poultry meat, placing Belgium among the top 6 poultry exporters worldwide.

Ten companies will represent the Flemish poultry sector in Hall 9:
Artislach (C033), Chicken Masters (D034), Cooreman (C035a), Klaasen & Co (D038a), Nollens (C039), Paas Food Industries (C037), Pludis (D036), Van-O-Bel (D038), Wilki (D038a), Teker Group (D032).

Rabbit meat: a popular export product

In the past year, Belgian producers offered around 3,000 tonnes of rabbit meat to foreign markets. The majority of the volume is ordered by the Netherlands, Germany, and France.

At the VLAM stand in Hall 9, two companies specialised in rabbit meat will be present: Lonki (D032) and Konijnenslachterij Van Assche (C035).
